Watering Down Of The Church Has Been Condemned
Traditional Roman Catholicism
Watering down of the Catholic Church and Her teachings, has been condemned a number of times. There are obvious
dangers in reducing God's level of understanding down, way down, to our own. The modernist and liberals in the
Church have done just that. The results have been predicted. Indifferentism ( a person can be saved in any church) is
rampant throughout the Church. Many Catholics no longer believe in what the Church teaches because if salvation is in
every Church why listen to any Church? The watering down of the necessity of belonging to the one true Church, or as
Pope Pius XII said, it has been "reduced to a meaningless formula", has caused many souls to be lost. Please read what
the Church has constantly taught and pray that the hierarchy begin to teach what she once taught, the necessity of the
Catholic Church for salvation as this teaching was taught by Christ, His Apostles, and all the Fathers and Doctors of the
Church. This teaching is infallible.

" in order the more easily to bring over to the Catholic Doctrine those who dissent from it, the Church ought to adapt
herself somewhat to our advanced civilization, and, relaxing her ancient rigor, show some indulgence to modern  popular
theories and methods. Many think that this is to be understood not only with regard to the rule of life, but also to the
doctrines in which the Deposit of Faith is contained. For they contend that it is opportune, in order to work in a more
attractive way upon the wills of those who are bot in accord with us, to pass over certain heads of doctrines, as if of
lesser moment, or to soften them that they may not have the same meaning which the Church has invariable held. Now,
Beloved Son, few words are needed to show how reprehensible is the plan that is thus conceived, if we but consider the
character and origin of the doctrine which the Church hands down to us. On that point the Vatican Council says : The
doctrine if faith which God has revealed is not proposed like a theory of philosophy which is to be elaborated by the
human understanding, but as a divine deposit delivered to the Spouse of Christ to be faithfully guarded and infallible
declared....That sense of the sacred dogmas is to be faithfully kept which Holy Mother the Church has once declared,
and is not to be departed from under the specious pretext of a more profound understanding. ....Far be it , then , for
anyone to diminish or for any reason whatever to pass over anything of this divinely delivered doctrine; whosoever
would do so, would rather wish to alienate Catholics from the Church than to bring over to the Church those who dissent
from it. Let them return; indeed, nothing is nearer to our heart; let all those who are wandering far from the sheepfold of
Christ return; but let it not be by any other road that that which Christ has pointed out."

Pope Leo XII in His Encyclical

"   Testem Benevolentiase " Jan. 22,1899

Addressed to Cardinal Gibbons, Archbishop of Baltimore

What's interesting is that this encyclical was sent to the author of the Baltimore Catechism, The Pope warned Cardinal
Gibbons about watering down the teaching of the Church, however in the Baltimore Catechism we see ambiguities
abound when it comes to the Dogma " No Salvation Outside the Church."
